The keto diet. What is the keto diet? In simple terms it's when you trick your body into using your own BODYFAT as it's main energy source instead of carbohydrates. The keto diet is very popular method of losing fat quickly and efficiently.

Good question. After all everyone saw at least 5 pounds of weight lost and some of which had struggled to see even the slightest loss in body weight prior to the program. But, the answer is NO. If you continue to follow a NO CARB DIET (not to be confused with a low carb diet) you will not continue to see results beyond the initial 10-14 days, which is why the program did not last longer.

If you look at the majority of dietary programs you will see a preponderant amount of grains. And if you ask, the designers of the diet will advise you that grains are a necessary component in a nutritional diet. Grains are what contain the most fiber and keep you feeling full between meals. Upon closer examination, you can see that logic is flawed. Let's face it, grain is what we feed livestock to fatten them up. It is also doing the same thing to us.

We now have the macros that tell us how many grams of each type of food we require per day on the low carb phase. A woman who weights 145lbs requires 104 grams of protein, 100 grams of fat and 17 grams of carbohydrates. During the carb up phase try to have less than 50 grams of fat each day, about 150 grams of carbs and the same amount of protein you have during the week. Using this knowledge we can then go to low carb recipe sites and start planning a weekly meal time table.

The second area is an appropriate training schedule for your strength training. It doesn't have to be too elaborate. It can be home training, it can be calisthenics, using free weights, bands, medicine balls or a combination of all of those items. A lot of times people think you need to go to a big gym...this isn't necessarily the case. You can actually do it outside at one of the local parks or in the comfort of your own home. Provided you have a few basic pieces.

Not only did I lower my carbohydrate intake, but when I ate carbohydrates, I only ate complex carbohydrates and I ate them with fat... and on top of that, I eliminated all refined foods from my diet, all simple and starchy carbohydrates, sugars, caffeine and alcohol. Not eating these things is crucial to you getting Reactive Hypoglycemia under control.

While it is true that Dr. Atkins' diet does not require calorie counting, Dr. Atkins does not mention in his introduction that instead of counting calories with a calorie counter you now must count carbohydrates with a carbohydrate counter. And these arent normal carbohydrates, they are an Atkins creation called net carbs, where you take total carbohydrates and subtract out the fiber, so be prepared with a calculator.

The whole assumption with low carb diets like The Atkin's Diet, Protein Power, The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet, Sugar Busters, The [Ketogenic diet plan], The Anabolic Diet and others, is that carbohydrates increase the production of insulin. And insulin in return stores fat. So reducing carbs will keep insulin under control and you will lose weight.

Its been argued that hunter societies lived on ketogenic diets. Surviving mostly on meat, fish, fowl and the leaves, roots and fruits of many plants. Even in modern times there are a few hunter gatherer tribes living on ketogenic diets. Inuit consume a diet of foods that are fished, hunted, and gathered locally. This may include walrus, ringed seal, bearded seal, beluga whale, polar bear, berries, and fireweed.

None of us are perfect. Even if you have the will of a warrior, splurging on your favorite unhealthy food is really really nice every now and again. For the rest of us commoners, it's absolutely essential to be able to curb our cravings or we'll just go crazy one day and go on a binge that will be very hard to recover from. Easy diets that work allow you to have controlled cheats so you stay on the straight and narrow.
